Goodbye to farmers markets and roadside produce stands?

More control-freak mentality (See 'Atlas Shrugged'). I'm all for safety but the regs should make sense. I don't see why we need a new department. We're already pouring billions into Dept of Agriculture and OSHA and USADA and FDA and...

City people have no idea what a real home-grown egg tastes like, or that it's 1,000 times safer than a commercially grown egg. Same for fruit and veggies. We get virtually all our produce from side road and tailgate markets during the season. The big scares are not from small farms they are from the big agri-corporations.

Interesting that ALL 36 co-sponsors of HR 875 are Democrats. Perhaps liberals throughout the heartland have finally had enough encroachment of their freedom by overzealous control freaks in Congress? The author of the article you cite is even trying to get moveon.org to take up the sword. I shudder to think that things are so bad politically that I find myself on the same side of an issue as moveon.org! :-o

When you call say something like:

I am a constituent calling about H.R. 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act. I urge you to vote "NO" because... -- or I urge you to amend it to exclude small family farms from over-regulation.
