Lawmakers take up battle against light bulb ban

Is it not pathetically sad that we even have to talk about something called the Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act?

Well we do. Congress -- a Democrat-led congress mind you -- passed the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and President Bush, who can't spell veto, signed it into law in December.

One of the low points of this law is the outright banning of the incandescent light bulb in 2012 in favor of those dimwitted/watted, silly looking, mercury-laden CFL thingies. Yep, they banned them. Bet they never asked you what you thought about it, did they? Me neither.

Just how much does the government really need to control our daily lives anyway?

You people are simply nuts with your insatiable desire to control people.

Ban 'em if you want to. If I have to I'll find regular bulbs on the black market from Hong Kong. What are you going to do, put me in jail over a light bulb?

At least now a few Representatives (24 co-sponsors, ALL Republicans) are finally getting how stupid this law is and have come up with H.R. 5616, the Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act to undo the last Act.

Maybe there's hope for a few of them.
